Rather than recording every feature literally, Summer at Yorkshire Lavender simplifies the view into layered fields, distant forms and atmospheric space. The work combines acrylic and pastel on Fabriano 300gsm fine art paper.
Successive layers establish the main divisions of sky, distant land and foreground. Acrylic provides the underlying colour and structure, while pastel introduces softer transitions, expressive marks and surface variation.
Denser passages of paint and pastel are balanced against quieter areas, allowing the landscape to retain clarity and openness. The finished paper work was mounted to Dibond, providing a stable, rigid support while preserving the tactile character of the original surface.
